Giorgio Armani launched his first clothing line a year before the XXI Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976. Fast-forward to the present, his Emporio Armani line continues to pave the way for stylish, relaxed looks.
The Ginkgo Biloba Series
The recently launched collection is inspired by the theme of Ginkgo Biloba, a symbol of longevity and vitality, and heavily influenced by traditional Asian attire. Ginkgo Biloba elements make their appearance in the form of embroidery on a half-lapel cross suit, paired with wide pants, or covered with a grid-like floral frame effect top. The motif also emerges on shirts as a matte jacquard pattern, and it adorns loose, golden tunics, exuding a soft glow from the shoulders.
Transitions and Themes
The Ginkgo element in the hooded sweatshirt heralds the collection’s transition to Emporio’s orthodoxy and a final series of evening dresses centered around a horseshoe vest. This fluid, black-and-white pieces shift and flow between different clothing codes in Asia and Europe, complementing the Olympic mottos of “Faster, Higher, Stronger, United.”
Materials and Craftsmanship
Aside from the highly recognizable Ginkgo element, many garments made of silk materials in this series also reflect the brand’s extremely high clothing making skills and unique ingenuity. This collection represents a comprehensive men’s clothing series, sure to appeal to those favoring a relaxed aesthetic.
With the launch of the Spring 2024 Men’s collection, Emporio Armani once again underlines its reputation for merging tradition with modern design, crafting a uniquely relaxed aesthetic that is favored by many.
