Following Marco Polo‘s ideal Silk Road we arrived in China, in the Nanshan and Longhua districts of Shenzhen to be precise.
The Nanshan district, famous for its artistic and cultural heritage, was among the protagonists of the Shenzhen-Milan Lifestyle Week, with a rich calendar of events that turned the spotlight on Italian and Chinese creativity in the prestigious historical site of Nantou City.
With its almost 1700 years of history, known as the main cultural center of Hong Kong and Macao in the east of Guangdong province, today Nantou represents, after a radical transformation, the symbolic place of the melting-pot of different cultures, one of the most important in the city.
Longhua was established as a new district on 30 December 2011 by the Shenzhen municipal government, being separated from Bao’an district. It was one of the four “new districts” established within Shenzhen, due to the rapid expansion of city urban area after the 2000s and now it’s one of the main socio-cultural centers of the city.
As we mentioned, during the Shenzhen-Milan Lifestyle Week, the Nanshan district hosted a busy calendar of events, including the Shenzhen and Milan Emerging Fashion Art Exhibition, the Salone della Moda, the Nanshan Fashion Show, the dedicated Fashion Night to institutions and insiders in the fashion system. Furthermore, at the SIC Super General International Lounge, the “Cloud Show” was held, the evocative fashion show in which the collections of Nanshan designers were presented.

During the Shenzhen and Milan Emerging Fashion Art Exhibition, which will last 4 weeks, nine brands from both Shenzhen and Milan exhibiting the most representative pieces from their collections in five large areas connected to each other by fashion as fil rouge among multimedia art installations, sketches and illustrations.
Among the protagonists, some of the most prestigious exponents of Made in Italy: Alabama Muse, Malloni/Ixos, Momonì and Gaetano Navarra.
The Shenzhen-Milan Lifestyle is actually an imaginary bridge that unites East and West.
We met three designers who, for different reasons, are the maximum expression of the event and a pragmatic metaphor of what was said:
HADRIAN WANG
Hadrian Wang is a young Chinese designer based in China with the aim to show his collection in Europe, Milan as first.
Hadrian hopes to create a women’s wardrobe that is lazy, elegant, gorgeous and timeless-casual and full of edges, integrating an effortless sense of sophistication into every woman’s life. It not only conveys beauty and romanticism, but also gives them empathy and confidence.
Hadrian integrates his daily life and haute couture work experience into the design of each season, paying attention to the upper body shape, fabric craftsmanship and detail control. The ready-to-wear gathers a large number of high definition elements such as silk, lace and beads, presenting a minimalist concept. At the same time, the brand implements the sustainable design of products and practices the vision of environmental protection.

MIAORAN STUDIO
Miao Ran is a Chinese naturalized Italian designer who develops, presents, sells his collection in Milan and Europe.
He would love to explore the Chinese market.
MIAORAN, founded in 2015, is a brand that plays with the codes of the male and female, hybridizing them, creating a spontaneousand fluid vision of clothing, disconnected from the traditional canons.
The attention to details and the deep research of fabrics and theirworkmanship make each garment relevant and precious.
The rigorous study of shapes and the spontaneous and playfulvision, combining both the real and the unreal together, givecustomers the possibility to create their own wardrobe.
MIAORAN’s phylosophy read the world as an upside down tale, downplaying what is actual and polished.

HUI MILANO
It is a perfect balance that gives the same importance and value to tradition and modernity, innovation and quality.
Hui Zhou Zhao, a Chinese designer with a master’s degree from the Milan Polytechnic Institute where she learned the charm of Italian fashion, perfectly combines classic oriental beauty and timeless elegance mixed with avant-garde modernity.
The brand identity is inspired by the extraordinary Asian aptitude for embellishments that mix with the rigor of clean, minimalist design. This mood comes from Miss Zhao’s passion for art and its influence on fashion that skillfully blends multiple languages.
HUI MILANO is based in Milano and with multiple stores all over the China.
Hui is the deus ex machina of the Shenzhen-Milan Lifestyle Week. She’s the bridge itself. She created the connection between East and West, in this occasion.
