Happy Women’s Day VTGirls! I know I’ve wished y’all on multiple occasions (Valentine’s Day, Christmas, New Year, etc) but I never really had something great up my sleeves for you exceptionally talented and fashionable people. Therefore, this Women’s Day, I’d like to break that trend (and inevitably set a new one) that I’ll actually pick out an entire ensemble for you for this deservingly special occasion. Now, fair warning, I’m terrible at picking outfits, more so for the opposite sex, and I’ve admitted on multiple occasions how I’d feel comfortable wearing rags and having a good bag to go with it. But today, y’all deserve something really special. So read on!
Outfit Name: Femme Fatale!
Dress: Versace Black Crepe Pin Dress $5125 USD
This is exactly the kind of “girl power” dress that chick-flicks, James Bond and other miscellaneous spy movies have taught us, and nothing symbolizes ULTIMATE POWER than a little black dress (we remember you, Ms. Chanel!) accented by Medusa (on the hardware)! Plus, it’s Versace, who could ever resist that?
Shoes: Saint Laurent Black Patent Aylah Tall Boots $1995 USD
Now that’s a pair of shoes you’d kill for. Or kill with. Both works really, because if you, like me, devoured Agatha Christie at some point you’d know that stilettos are like the #1 murder weapon of the vengeful woman. And Vengeance = Power!
Clutch: Alexander McQueen Black Skull Four-Ring Flat Clutch $2090 USD
I chose the flat clutch instead of the minaudiere one because this will fit your phone. But the clutch had to be an Alexander McQueen Skull Clutch, just because it’s got skulls and the rings can sort of double like the brass-knuckle-weapon-thingy that’s perfect for punching somebody’s intestines out. Wow, I’m impressed at how murderous this is becoming.
Jewelry:
As you know I’m extra bad at picking jewelry so I’m keeping it to a minimal. Also by minimal I mean ”two” and not ”zero” because come on, it’s a dress, you need at least some jewelry with it.
Earrings: Yvonne Léon Gold & Black Twisted Enamel Earrings $1455 USD
Made of solid 9k gold and set in grey diamonds and enamel, this is probably the least dangerous piece of the outfit unless, I don’t know, you’d want to pierce somebody with it, I guess? I mean I don’t know how murders work, never done it before. Don’t ask me. And ew, why would you even want to get blood or something on your gold earrings? That’s just a waste of gold.
Bracelet: Bottega Veneta Gold Twisted Bracelet $1350 USD
I’d probably have limited the jewelry to the earrings only but when I saw this, I knew I just had to include this because it’s Bottega and because it’s exactly that sort of edgy, shiny but still understated kind of thing that an extremely bold and powerful woman would rock. Plus it’s made of 18k gold plated sterling silver, so if you know kung-fu or something, you can bash somebody’s head with this. I guess.
I wish I had some fancy skill like 3D designing whereby I could maybe make a representation of the entire outfit. But then I realize that if I proceeded to do that, I’d be typecasting, and nothing could perhaps be a more cardinal sin (except perhaps killing people?) because every woman would look their own version of beautiful in this stunning outfit. So this Women’s Day, let’s take a moment to appreciate our individual beauty, and even if for only a day, not worry about our complexion, weight, height, gender or anything else that we normally distance ourselves apart with.
