The photographic editorial “Teen Spirit” transcends mere fashion to capture a feeling: the turbulent and electrifying energy of youth. The photographer aimed to convey the restlessness, spontaneity, and emerging rebellion that define adolescence, creating a narrative that is not linear, but a series of fragments communicating an attitude of fragile yet powerful freedom.

To achieve this authenticity, the choice was a simple, raw photographic technique, where clarity and immediacy took precedence over technical virtuosity. The space was stripped down: a minimalist studio with only a chair and an amplifier, the latter acting as a powerful symbol of music as a language of identity, belonging, and rebellion for youth, ensuring the subject was the sole narrative focus.
Artistic influences were drawn from the work of Hedi Slimane (iconic intimate moments), the early collections of Raf Simons (vulnerable force of youth), and the direct gaze of Robert Mapplethorpe. Bands like The Cure reinforced the idea of music as a total declaration of identity. Post-production was kept minimal, respecting the “truth” of the original shot, and the final success was the result of a harmonious collaboration where the team shared the same aesthetic vision.
