Stone Island, renowned for its innovative approach to fashion, has recently unveiled the seventh product from its “PROTOTYPE RESEARCH_SERIES”. The series represents a testament to the brand’s commitment to pioneering new materials and processes, with each piece embodying a limited-edition exploration of uncommercialized textile technology.
This time, the spotlight falls on the SERIES 07_LIQUID CRYSTAL HEAT REACTIVE Jacket, crafted from nylon canvas treated with a special liquid crystal resin coating. The jacket showcases the Liquid Crystal Heat Reactive technology, a notable departure from the thermochromic solutions Stone Island has been using since 1989. Within the temperature range of 15 to 31 degrees Celsius, the liquid crystals dispersed in the fabric trigger a molecular gradient reaction, resulting in a constant color shift.
Adding a signature touch to the innovative jacket is the white Stone Island Textile Research badge, located on the left sleeve. Small white markings appear on the liquid crystal resin coating, becoming especially noticeable in colder temperatures when the jacket turns black. These markings become more pronounced with continued wear of the jacket.
This limited-edition jacket, with only 100 pieces available, is set to launch on Tuesday, May 23. It will be exclusively sold on the official STONE ISLAND website. Fashion-forward individuals with an interest in innovative textile technology won’t want to miss this extraordinary release.
