Beyond Minimalism – Embracing Freedom and Diverse Silhouettes
Breaking the Mold
JIL SANDER may be renowned for its minimalist designs, but this season, the brand ventures beyond its signature style. Designers Lucie and Luke Meier are reimagining fashion norms, presenting a collection that explores a multitude of silhouettes diverging from traditional two-piece suits.

A New Silhouette Unveiled
This season, expect the unexpected – jackets are sculpted in square cuts, and paired with round-necked shirts and shorts to craft a distinct silhouette. The designers have played with proportions, featuring elongated dusters and jackets while elevating the waistline of relaxed shorts. This relaxed approach to tailoring marks a fresh experiment, offering a sense of freedom not seen in the brand’s early days.
The sense of liberation extends to other garment categories. Button-up shirt collars are adorned with metal disks, creating built-in jewelry; vest tops showcase polished chrome-outlined double portholes; and oversized cat face prints add an unexpected touch of joy to several evening dresses.
Knitwear sees a significant departure from JIL SANDER’s traditional style. Modern knitting techniques have brought comfort to contemporary business attire, but the knit dress that opened the show was more suited for a night out than a day at the office. A snug ribbed bodice blossomed into a flared skirt, with a rhinestone necklace adding an extra touch of sophistication.
The two dresses closing the show were masterfully crafted in cotton, chosen for its lightness. Creating a shell-like effect with their generous volume and distinctive shoulder pleats, these dresses encapsulate the brand’s innovative approach to style this season.
A Season of Innovation
JIL SANDER’s Spring/Summer 2024 Collection is a testament to the brand’s evolution, showcasing a broader range of styles and forms. It’s a celebration of freedom in fashion, a journey beyond minimalism, and a glimpse into the future of design.
