Interview

Jean-Christian “there is too much jealousy in the fashion world too”

Today we interview Jean-Christian (@jcthehyraud) a French 25 years old model who works for agencies, brands and also does some collaborations. In addition, he claims that he wants to continue evolving in the fashion industry.

One of the first things that came to our mind was to ask him about his Instagram feed because it is super aesthetically pleasing. He takes care very well of the colors and the harmony, creating a very cohesive combination that could be tagged almost as a virtual contemporary museum. However, he told us that “in the beginning, it was dark, a little bit messy” and that he didn’t pay much attention to the colors. Now he has achieved a very interesting aesthetic, stating that he chose this particular aesthetic because the photos he posts are more visible now, not hidden by anything.

When talking about his style, his favorite is streetwear, and let’s be honest, it is the best you could be doing now. Besides being the most popular style nowadays, the great thing about it is what he says in this interview:

“What I like about streetwear is that you can put the pieces together as you want and you will get different styles according to details: classic, sportswear…”

And of course, another thing that cannot be missing in your outfit is jewelry, even with streetwear. It is the key to completely transform a dull outfit into a popping and very stylish one.

“I could say that they (earring, nose piercing and rings) have a special value for me without them I feel empty.”

Q: Let me tell you your Instagram feed is one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. What made you start creating that aesthetic in the first place?

A: First of all, thank you so much! You should know that my Instagram feed has not always been like that. In the beginning, it was dark, a little bit messy. I didn’t pay particular attention to the colors but that kind of aesthetic was cool.

Now, more and more, the aesthetic becomes more important and very refined. I like things to be well organized. I find that the white background effect gives an elegant and clean side. Also, I was inspired by some accounts. But I choose really this aesthetic because I find that the pictures I post are more visible, they are not hidden by everything around.
Q: Your style is also stunning. How does it reflect your personality?

A: Oh thanks again! I find that it’s the perfect style for me. What I like about streetwear is that you can put the pieces together as you want and you will get different styles according to details: classic, sportswear… My personality is represented by details specific to me and because the culture of streetwear represents what I have always liked.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

A: I would say it comes from all the trends of the moment, all collections of fashion designers, all fashion inspirations by Instagram accounts (for example, models that I follow) and about my vision.
Q: Name one item your style won’t be the same without and another one with a special value for you.

A: It’s very simple but I think it’s my jewelry: I need my earrings, my nose piercing that I never take off and my rings. I could say that they have a special value for me without them I feel empty.

Q: Have you faced any problems in this industry?

A: I’ve never had any problems in the fashion world. I would say that the thing could be frustrating when a collaboration or a shooting doesn’t go as planned. In the end, you’re disappointed. But the goal is to have fun and it never happened to me so…
Q: We are going through rough times. What message would you like to send to the world?

A: It’s not always easy. I find that we have to support the people around us but not because of their projects or their ambitions. Because there is too much jealousy in the fashion world too. We could all help each other but…
