Gender Has No Box by Farid Renais

Photographer Farid Renais @faridrenais presents this very beautiful fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Tom Burke @tom.bx3 represented by IMM @immmodels, with stylists Charlie Partridge @charliepartridgestylist and Katie Campling @katieccoms_. Katie also took care of the creative direction this time.

The editorial was inspired by Generation Z as a demographic, offering an insight into the
values of a Gen Z society member. One which really stood out is the idea of gender fluidity
within the demographic which is something personal and unique to the youngest generation within society. The story tells a vision of freedom and the ability to be accepted for the true self, focussing on the idea of breaking down gender stereotypes held within society, showcasing a model who demonstrates comfort and freedom within themselves.

The photographer used a Canon 5D Digital Camera and a 35mm Film Camera and was shot at Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire. The vibes generated through this photo story share something relaxing and comforting, offering a personal approach to gender issues within society. “Generation Z is standing at the front, leading the way with this issue and I feel working with an all Gen Z team showcases this well. The images give off a free-flowing and confident vibe,” says the photographer.

‘Gen Z refuses to have its gender put in a box, experiencing the freedom of being whoever they want to be.’
