Shamin Shukkoor: After Hours: The Art of Becoming

After Hours: The Art of Becoming is a cinematic editorial on transformation, capturing Shamin Shukkoor in the magnetic space between structure and surrender. Moving through hushed interiors and noir-inflected tailoring, the narrative unfolds as a profound portrait of self-invention—a realm where restraint yields to instinct and polish evolves into raw presence.

Each frame meticulously strips away layers to reveal a different facet of the soul: discipline, rebellion, sensuality, introspection, and release. At once intimate and atmospheric, this series reimagines masculinity as something fluid, composed, and deeply alive. It is a visual meditation on the grace found in change.

IN CONVERSATION WITH SHAMIN SHUKKOOR
The Duality: This editorial explores the shift from structure to instinct. At what time of day do you feel you drop the “persona” to be your true self?
Funny enough, on set. I know that sounds backwards, but the deeper I get into a scene, the less there is to hide behind. The camera has no interest in performance for its own sake—it catches what’s real, or it catches nothing. Somewhere between action and cut, I stop managing myself. That’s usually when I feel most like me.
Personal Style: We reimagine masculinity as something alive and fluid. Which garment or accessory makes you feel most free and confident at the same time?
A black tank under an open blazer. That combination has always felt instinctive—part polish, part edge. It says enough without overexplaining. I’m drawn to clothes that hold a certain tension: clean, structured, but still a little undone. That balance feels the most natural, and the most masculine, to me.
Your Energy: Each frame of Shamin reveals a different facet: rebellion, sensuality, or introspection. If you had to pick one word for your energy today, what would it be?
Becoming. I’m not interested in feeling finished. I like being in motion—getting sharper, seeing further, understanding more about where I can go. There’s something powerful in not being fully pinned down yet. That’s the space I feel most alive in.
