Racer, the Tallinn-based brand known for its bold narrative and unique cultural roots, is proud to announce its latest photographic project. This creative endeavor brings
together the talents of Racer, creative director Anna Himma, and renowned photographer
Eamonn Freel, and builds on the spirit of Racer’s debut runway show at Men’s Paris Fashion Week in June.
This project dives deep into themes of post-irony and nostalgia, presenting a witty exploration of youth culture through Racer’s unique post-Soviet lens. Drawing inspiration from both contemporary and nostalgic influences, Racer’s designs echo the clothing its founders once dreamed of owning as kids, blending the past and present to create something truly distinctive.
The collection humorously revisits Western quickie teen trends from the late 2000s and early 2010s, offering a fresh perspective informed by the lingering inferiority complex tied to post-Soviet history. Subtle nods to the feeling of being “so close yet so far” add depth and wit, creating a narrative that’s both culturally rich and universally relatable.
This photographic project is more than a fashion statement; it’s a celebration of Racer’s identity and journey. The collaboration between Himma and Freel captures the brand’s essence: a playful yet profound take on youth culture and its intersections with history and identity.
