Balmain has unveiled its latest innovation, the ‘Main Lab’ collection, a direct tribute to its iconic and best-selling luxury sneaker, the Unicorn, which first graced the Paris runways two years ago.
Named after the mythical creature symbolizing courage, pride, and creativity, the Unicorn sneaker boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design that fuses various materials and shapes. The Main Lab collection mirrors this ethos, offering an extensive men’s wardrobe characterized by sharp cuts, striking graphics, and a classic black-and-white color scheme. The collection also explores an array of textures, blending matte, reflective, and tactile fabrics, and skillfully combines precise Parisian tailoring with relaxed sportswear styles. Notably, the collection features new iterations of the Unicorn sneaker in both all-black and black-and-white designs.
This collection pays homage to Balmain’s rich heritage and ongoing innovation, drawing inspiration from the brand’s flagship store at 44 rue François Premier in Paris’ “Golden Triangle”. It was here that Pierre Balmain, the house’s founder, introduced his “New French Style” to the post-war fashion world nearly 80 years ago.
The Main Lab collection will debut at a special pop-up store in Isetan Shinjuku, a renowned department store in Tokyo, from January 10th to 16th. The global launch is set for January 12th, with the collection becoming available at 17 Balmain boutiques across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, as well as on Balmain.com. Additionally, exclusive Main Lab shop-in-shops will be established within the Balmain Madison Avenue and Rue Saint Honoré flagship stores.
