The talented Cole Fawcett @Cole_faw, who was one of the fifty finalists from JW Anderson’s photography competition: Your Picture / Our Future presents this gorgeous editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online.
Inspired by the start of spring and the various markers in the natural world that signified it such as tulips sprouting and ice melting, the photographer worked with the models Sileye Sow @sileyejulessow represented by Montage Models @montagemodels and Yahia Battawy @ybtwy_23 represented by Maven Models @mavenmodels for this soft and delicate editorial.
I want people to feel refreshed when they look at these images and feel inspired to go out there and create themselves.Cole Fawcett
Spring Awakening was captured in two parts. The first shoot was with Sileye and the second was with Yahia over a period of one month. Fawcett wanted Sileye’s shoot to feel more earthy with elements such as the brick wall and ceramic pot vs. Yahia’s shoot which was more clean and simplistic focusing on elements such as the white rose and Afghan blanket.
Shot with a Canon and natural light, Yahia’s photographs were shot in a furniture store called Le Centerpiece, and Sileye’s were created in an old loft. The models wear amazing pieces, styled by Cole Fawcett as well, with vintage pieces, Helmut Lang white pants, Calvin Klein underwear, a really cool black Raf Simons sweater with colorful accents.
Instant coffee with slightly sour cream in it, and a phone call to the beyond which doesn’t seem to be coming any nearer. “Ah daddy, I wanna stay drunk many days” on the poetry of a new friend my life held precariously in the seeing hands of others, their and my impossibilities. Is this love, now that the first love has finally died, where there were no impossibilities?1956, Frank O’Hara
