“WE DEM KIDS”: A Showcase Unmarred by Commercial Constraints
The Parsons School of Fashion Design’s MFA runway isn’t your typical fashion event. It’s a space where students are free to channel their fashion philosophies, untouched by commercial pressures, corporate interests, or sales targets. In their 2023 fashion spectacle, Parsons unflinchingly spotlighted the fashion industry’s budding potential.
Hosted at the iconic Brooklyn Museum, this year’s showcase bore the resonant title, “WE DEM KIDS”. The fashion-forward designs gracing the runway hailed from the 12th graduating class of MFA Fashion Design and Society. The creative minds behind these masterpieces included Anna Roth, Chang Liu, Fabiola Soavelo, Hsiao-Han Kuo, Mel Corchado, Nan Jiang, Natsumi Aoki, Pipenco Lorena, Ren Haixi, Siri, Historia, Sunny Ning, Yamil Arbaje, Ying Kong, and Yu Gong.
Each graduate’s ensemble eloquently spoke of individual flair, with diverse fabric cuts underscoring their unique sartorial signatures.
