Cora Corré at the Launch

Cora Corré Steps Out of the Westwood Shadow with Marella

Yesterday in London, just before London Fashion Week, British model and activist Cora Corré hosted a launch party at The Incubator in Marylebone to celebrate her new capsule collection with Italian fashion brand Marella.

For Corré, this is more than another celebrity collaboration. It is her first fashion collection outside the Vivienne Westwood company — which is a pretty big step when your grandmother happens to be Vivienne Westwood.

Corré has spent much of her career surrounded by fashion. She is the daughter of Joe Corré, who founded Agent Provocateur with Serena Rees, and the granddaughter of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren. She also worked at Vivienne Westwood before leaving the company in 2024 following disagreements over its management, later continuing her work around her grandmother’s legacy through The Vivienne Foundation.

So, naturally, the question is: what does Cora Corré look like without Vivienne Westwood?

Forget What You’d Expect From a Westwood Relative

Well, there is no punk revolution happening here.

Marella x Cora Corré is much more polished. The capsule focuses on outerwear, dresses, knitwear and tailoring, with a classic colour palette of black, navy, ivory and chocolate brown, plus a few stronger hits of red.

Corré’s references are actually more specific than the collection might suggest. She has spoken about looking at Mugler, Alaïa and Grace Jones, while also pulling from her own wardrobe and memories — including an old trench coat belonging to her mother.

The result is a wardrobe built around strong shoulders, fitted silhouettes and pieces that can move from daytime to evening without requiring a complete outfit change.

Marella, meanwhile, has been doing this kind of polished-but-wearable wardrobe for decades. Founded in Reggio Emilia in 1971, the brand became part of the Max Mara Fashion Group in 1988 and now has more than 200 standalone stores worldwide.

The new collection fits neatly into that world.

There is a double-breasted pure wool coat, a chocolate brown trench, a short checked coat in chocolate and ivory, a leather bomber and a matching pencil skirt. Other pieces include dresses, knitwear and tailoring, with prices ranging from £195 to £695.

It is not exactly what you would expect from someone with the Westwood family tree. And maybe that’s the interesting part.

Corré has described the collection as a way of exploring growing up and getting to know herself, rather than trying to recreate her grandmother’s aesthetic. After growing up around one of fashion’s most recognisable names, choosing clean tailoring and wearable evening pieces feels like a fairly deliberate way of establishing her own wardrobe.

Fashion Families Assemble

The launch itself was also very London fashion.

The launch brought together a very London fashion crowd, with Poppy Delevingne, Lila Moss, Olivia Neill, Angelica Jopling, Elena Ora, Emilia Boateng, Maddi Waterhouse and Dolly Gosling among the guests.

Lila Moss and Elena Ora also added a familiar fashion-family connection to the room — Kate Moss’s daughter and Rita Ora’s sister, respectively.

Considering Corré’s own family tree, it felt pretty on-brand.

Marella has also been expanding its presence in London, opening its first standalone UK store at 8 Marylebone High Street earlier this year, just a short distance from the launch.

The UK collection launches on 16 September, with the global release following on 19 September through Marella’s website and selected stores.

For a first collection outside the Westwood universe, Corré has chosen a surprisingly safe starting point. No punk theatrics, no attempt to compete with her grandmother’s archive — just coats, tailoring, leather, knitwear and dresses designed for the woman who wants to go from work to dinner without changing.

Maybe that is exactly how Cora Corré wants to start writing her own chapter.
