Kicking off the first fashion weekend of February is Nigo’s first Spring-Summer 2022 limited edition drop for KENZO. The collection presented last month was the start of a new chapter for the brand founded by Takada, consisting of a fashion collection based on a forward-thinking wardrobe grounded in its founder’s heritage codes.
Continuing his debut as artistic director, the drop consists of a wardrobe of pieces rooted in Kenzo’s heritage and his own practice, particularly an iconic, cultural, and relatable element of the house and Nigo: the flower. Translating the bold energy of the KENZO genetics through its signature simplified graphic language, Nigo uses the boke, a Japanese flower that blooms in February, to adorn a wardrobe of men’s and women’s pieces:
Nylon jackets in navy blue, crew-neck sweatshirts, knit jackets, long-sleeved T-shirts, a gurkha-inspired trouser, and a cargo skirt in Japanese washed cotton twill. Oversized hooded sweatshirt referencing the collection’s silhouette. A drop accompanied by a blanket featuring the Boke logo.

A series of pieces represented through a palette of natural colors accompanied by a flower is reflective of the shared vision of the founder and the current creative director where white serves as a nod to mark a new beginning linked to the inspiring and iconic Japanese sensibility of flora and fauna that only Takada and Nigo share, grounded in a legacy but passed on in a presentism in keeping with today’s times.
The limited-edition capsule will be available on February 5, in select shops and on KENZO.COM.
