It’s also the latest preview of her upcoming album, HOLLYWOOD FOREVER, set to drop on April 25.
“YUNG & RICH” radiates the rebellious energy of an outsider confronting her wealthy peers. Originating from a demo Romy wrote at 19, the song features heavy bass lines and sarcastic vocals as it dismantles the lives of privileged Los Angeles teens flaunting their family wealth while she struggled to get by. “I was always surrounded by rich guys making music and DJing. Their parents bought them all their gear and even paid venues to host their parties, while I was just trying to make ends meet,” Romy recalls. “I was, of course, a bit jealous. But I was also fed up with them being arrogant, selfish, and flaunting money that wasn’t theirs. There’s a lot of real teenage angst in this song.” The contributions from Wargasm and Bodyimage intensify the track’s raw urgency, turning it into a cathartic anthem of shared ambition and envy.
This single follows two earlier releases from HOLLYWOOD FOREVER: the hypnotic “LA LA LAND” and the seductive “PRAY TO ME,” featuring Palaye Royale. Together, these tracks offer a visceral portrait of Romy’s Los Angeles—where bright dreams clash with exploitation and perseverance.
DeathbyRomy is taking her cinematic chaos on the road with her first headlining solo tour across North America, beginning on April 25, 2025, in Anaheim, California. The 23-city tour will stop in cities like San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Brooklyn, and more, before concluding with a final show in her hometown of Los Angeles on May 30. She will also perform at Warped Tour Orlando this summer and embark on a European tour in July.
