An exploration of contemporary Western iconography across limited-edition apparel
Austin Post, the eponymous label founded by Post Malone, announces a collaboration with Los Angeles-based visual artist Matt McCormick, uniting two complementary interpretations of the modern American West. This partnership also marks the first installment of Austin Post’s Studio Series, an ongoing exploration of artists and cultural figures whose work aligns with the brand’s vision. The series investigates shared references, parallel paths, and the creative forces that shape Austin Post’s visual world.

For this opening chapter, the brand visited McCormick’s studio to learn about the inspirations and visual language that inform his practice, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the ideas driving the project. The resulting capsule collection includes five silhouettes, including tees, a hoodie, and a crewneck, offered in multiple colorways. Central to the collection are McCormick’s works Among The Low Light and Ceremony of Certainty, used exclusively in this collaboration. These pieces anchor the shared visual language of the brand and artist, incorporating graphic elements reading “At First Light — Season One,” a nod to Austin Post’s debut Fall/Winter 2025 season and runway show.
Reflecting on his evolving engagement with the cowboy figure, McCormick explains:
“The cowboy has always been this kind of symbol…watching Westerns with my dad as a kid, seeing my grandfather smoke Marlboro Reds. I’m a huge fan of Richard Prince, and seeing what he had done with the Marlboro advertisements and taking ownership of those. There is a lot there, a lot to unpack. There’s a lot about masculinity, about how my country exists in the world. There’s just a lot that comes from that imagery.
That was what I was really interested in. So I leaned into it and kept exploring. The reality is it could be a cowboy, or it could be something else — the fact the feeling got through and resonated is the best part.”
Through this collaboration, Austin Post and McCormick explore the tension between myth and memory, individual identity and cultural archetype. The capsule situates familiar Western themes within a contemporary, introspective framework shaped by personal history, storytelling, and artistic practice.

The collaboration debuted Thursday, December 11 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET exclusively on Austin-Post.com
