Aarif Lee:I have more than luck (Vanity Teen China)

“The identity of a singer represents expression, and the identity of an actor represents growth. Of course, the two together are dreams.”

It is not an exaggeration to use the word ‘almighty’ to describe Aarif Lee @aarif_964, whether he is an actor, a singer, or an ordinary person.

The film <Echoes of the Rainbow>, is the first time Aarif Lee and everyone met on the screen. In the film, he plays the role of Luo Jinyi, who has excellent character and academic performance. He won the Best Newcomer Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2010 for this role. Since then, from the clever and wily ICAC chief Zhang Guobiao in <Cold War> to the cold and unrestrained Wu You in <Princess with White Hair>, Aarif has maintained a steady and excellent output, never disappointing in his ability to portray different characters despite their stark differences.

However, before he became an outstanding actor, his identity as a musician was better known. He entered the record company of Li Ming at the age of 16 to learn lyrics and arrangement. The album <Starting Today> that won him the first solo debut of the Newcomer Award at multiple Hong Kong music award ceremonies that year was almost composed by him alone. Today, while releasing singles, he also composes songs for his film and television works from time to time. The change between the identities of actor and singer has also become his unique source of creative inspiration.

Throughout Aarif’s acting career, many people will admire his “lucky“. But luck is never vain. The harder you work, the luckier you will be. Guitar training for more than eight hours a day in middle school, fitness training that does not stop no matter how heavy the work is on the day, and the careful study of ancient texts and history in order to better understand scripts and characters, there are too many examples that can prove what Aarif has is more than luck.

Nevertheless, his current self does not match the imagination he once had of himself in the future. Although he had the idea of becoming a singer when he was young, he chose to major in physics when he was admitted to Imperial College London at the age of 18 for the purpose of maintaining his passion for music and developing another life-sustaining skill. But<Echoes of the Rainbow> unlocked the hidden options that fate prepared for him. Today, Aarif regards it as the most important turning point in his life.

But<Echoes of the Rainbow> unlocked the hidden options that fate prepared for him. Today, Aarif regards it as the most important turning point in his life.

Outside of his identity as an actor and singer, he is a very good person, humble and upright, optimistic and cheerful, and perhaps a little nonsense. When he was a child, he had the heart of martial arts, always thinking that he could punish evil and rape, but he has never had a rough fight with people like this, he has always respected his teacher and has excellent grades. It’s just that he dyed his blond hair differently against the rule that he can’t dye his hair, rejected classical instruments and chose to pick up a rock guitar and form his own rock band. For him, these are just things he challenged the boring rules and regulations in life, that’s it.

After ten years in the industry, Aarif has precipitated his own thoughts on many things. When it comes to the “traffic” of celebrities, he believes that “traffic” itself is not a problem, and can even be regarded as a good reference; when it comes to newcomers in a variety show, he hopes that the public can give them time and space for growth in addition to support.

He also said frankly: “It’s only the past two years that you can really make choices for yourself. The so-called pursuits and things you like are also within the framework of reality.” Whether you like it or not, treat every role and every job, he always devote himself wholeheartedly, at least to live up to himself.

“I think I am very lucky to be able to do what I like to do. There are many people who support my work.” Aarif smiled and said that he is very happy now.
