Photographer Mitchell Cahoon @mitchellcahoonphotography presents SW16, a fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the models Keenan Gyamfi @keenancgyamfi, Caleb Frempong @calebfrempong, and Will Cattanach @will.cattanach represented by Models1 @models1.
Once home to philosophers, authors, royal dressmakers, composers, and fashion elites Naomi Campbell and John Galliano at one point or another, Streatham, aka The Hamlet on the street, has and always will be a hub of thriving identity. Shot on location by photographer Mitchell Cahoon inside an Edwardian South London home alongside the expansive grounds of SW16, Lewis Robert Cameron art directs and styles working archive garments, sustainable designers, and customized upcycled one-off pieces to showcase the various sides of the subjects’ personalities and individual identities. From playfulness to pride, to strength and serenity alike.
Originally, the main focus of the shoot was all about contrasts and opposites. Reflected in the styling in relation to relaxed casualwear, high-end tailoring, and theatrical editorial outfits, shooting both indoors and outdoors and using a variety of lighting setups to get this across.
“We had several lighting set-ups using natural light, artificial daylight, colored gels, and various lenses that we played about with on the day to see what worked best with the initial concept.”
“Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them.”Marc Jacobs
All three models were vastly different, which again added to the contrasting elements overall. One was energetic and confident. Another was mischievous and assured and the third was polite and reserved. The perfect balance really.
