Icons Chloë Sevigny (I.G. @chloessevigny) and Andrew Richardson (I.G. @richardsonworld) team up to create a collection inspired by early nineties New York, punk culture and American cheerleaders. All that nostalgic imagery experienced by the renegades of fashion is now revived in a capsule that evokes the freedom and controversy spirit of the stimulating era.
The actress and style prescriber dives back into fashion, this time in front of and behind the cameras, in the role of designer and model, alongside the magazine editor and designer Richardson. Friends since the 90s, and having collaborated creatively on several occasions, as in a project for Supreme last year, two of the figures who lived the effervescence of the New York subculture at the time, wanted to transfer all that sense of freedom to a capsule for the Richardson brand. Photographer Tim Barber has portrayed precisely that universe between the darkness of nature and the light of the flames.
The collection consists of a M65 military jacket in black poplin with the Richardson Glyph eagle logo, a graphic tee, and a crewneck sweatshirt with the monogram of Sevigny (CSS) and Chloë pic taken by Henry Mcgee. That snapshot at iconic New York nightclub ‘Sway’ leaves an imprint of euphoria on the constellation of black-and-white-drenched garments.
The cheerleader aesthetic just stamp the series through Richardson’s first dress: a modern uniform made of cotton jersey with a zipper, from wrist to neck, a dolman sleeve, and the CSS and Richardson Glyph screen-printed on the front.
Richardson x Chloë Sevigny Collection will be releasing this Saturday 8/21 at Richardson NYC, LA, Tokyo and online. Sevigny will also be appearing at the NYC store event at 325 Broome St. from 5 to 7 p.m to meet her fans and sign their exclusive garments.
