LOEWE Amplifies Presence Down Under: Opens Alluring Boutique in Melbourne’s CBD

LOEWE’s Sophisticated Realm of Fashion, Art, and Craftsmanship Finds a New Home in the Heart of Melbourne

LOEWE, the luxury fashion house, has escalated its retail momentum with a string of boutique openings following its successful launch in Chadstone back in 2016. The brand’s latest stride is the unveiling of its first-ever commercial space in Melbourne, Australia’s fashion capital. Nestled right in the middle of the city’s Central Business District, a second boutique has sprung up, adding another feather to LOEWE’s cap.

This spacious corner unit resides on the ground floor of the iconic T & G Building along Collins Street. The commercial space is a testament to LOEWE’s unique brand identity, featuring a collaborative interior design between the brand’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, and his internal design team.

The boutique’s aesthetic is largely inspired by Casa LOEWE’s design concept, the brand’s division for super-luxe flagship stores. This concept seamlessly merges fashion, art, and design, and showcases an array of settings that not only highlight LOEWE’s highly appreciated artisanal edge but also its patronage of traditional craftsmanship globally.

The interior design cleverly juxtaposes handmade ceramics, brass, and turned iron, creating a warm contrast against the wide glass windows and concrete floors. An eye-catching glazed pink tile exterior is offset by hues of yellow, white, and blue, creating a space bursting with color, while also paying homage to the brand’s Spanish roots.

Further enhancing the store’s ambiance is a large-scale, densely colored painting by Scottish artist Lorna Robertson, followed by a curated selection of works from international artists. The art collection includes a sculpture by New Zealand-based artist Kate Newby, a photograph by the late Welsh photographer Angus McBean, and a small-scale piece by American artist Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt.

Adding to the overall allure of the space are meticulously chosen furniture pieces like the iconic Utrecht and Steltman chairs by Dutch designer and architect Gerrit Rietveld. These sit on handmade wool rugs from Spain, displaying images from British graphic and textile artist John Allen.

Customers can browse through the entire range of men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, small leather goods, jewelry, fragrances, and home scents.

LOEWE 161 Collins Street, Shop 1o (CBD) Melbourne, VIC 3000 Phone: +61 3 80808615 Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This new LOEWE boutique marks a significant step in the brand’s expansion in the southern hemisphere, blending the brand’s distinctive mix of fashion, art, and global craftsmanship, all under one roof in Melbourne’s vibrant CBD.
