The social media star, model, actor, and Australian television favorite Jade Kevin Foster @jadekevinfoster chats with us about his daily routines, what’s behind the production of a horror movie, and what we will see about him this year.
Q: I would like to start this interview by knowing a little bit more about you as an individual. Who is Jade Kevin Foster on a normal day? Tell me about your childhood, your upbringing, or anything you find interesting or relevant about yourself that not so many people know about if you feel comfortable sharing.
A: A typical day for me starts with working out with my trainer and then jumping straight into work. I create a lot of content so there is always that to do on a daily basis and if I’m not on the content creation train I’m either working on a new project or planning the next! I love to keep busy and think I’m at my best self when I’m busy, motivated, and feeling fresh! Growing up in a small town in NSW Australia really made me appreciate the little things in life. I was extremely blessed to have a very close bond with my mum and brother and we grew up in a very close-knit family. Sure, there were challenges living in a small town, but I loved it! I always had dreams of bright lights and big cities and I was determined to make my dreams come true.
Q: You are a social media star, and you have also appeared on Australian television. How and why did you start sharing on social media in the first place? And what attracted you to take part in a television show?
A: Ever since I was little, I wanted to be in the media industry, I just had to find my niche! Modeling was my first passion and traveling the world with that gave me so many life experiences that I am forever grateful for. I think modeling is what eventually lead me into the world of all things social media. Social media has always been a passion of mine and I think it helped massively that I got on the train early when it was just finding its feet. TV has always been a goal and I was thrilled to recently be involved in several Australian Tv shows. Looking back I guess it was a bit of a natural progression and anyone that knows me will tell you I do enjoy the spotlight!
Q: 2021 brought your biggest challenge to date: being part of the horror movie ‘The Possessed’ directed by Chris Sun. How did you get that opportunity and what did it mean to you to get such an opportunity?
Being involved in this movie will forever blow my mind! Working with legendary horror director Chris Sun was such an honor and the cast was nothing short of extraordinary! I remember getting a call from my manager to say I had the role about three weeks after I auditioned… talk about ‘a pinch me moment!’ Haha, I really loved the process of acting and playing a character who was so different from me. To say I was excited about this project is such a massive understatement! Hope you all enjoy the film as much as I did, I really am so proud of it!
Q: Could you tell us a little bit about how does that experience of being part of a movie is? Like for example how do you feel when filming, what do you do on a daily basis, how do you prepare, etc.
A: I know everyone has very different techniques and methods to get into character. For me, it’s just about taking some time to just be quiet and focus on my breathing. Day one was really nerve-wracking for me and I hardly slept the night before but as each day went on I found my groove. I was so lucky to have such a supportive director and cast, I learned so much during filming! Will I act again? Um, yes! I can’t wait to sink my teeth into another juicy role! Bring it on!
Q: Was acting your dream job as a kid? What did you answer when people asked “what do you want to be when you grow up”? What would that kid think about you now?
A: Acting was something I always had my eye on, I remember growing up I just wanted to be famous haha Whether it was an actor, a reality star, or a presenter I just wanted to find my moment to shine. I think my younger self would be really proud of what I’ve achieved so far but would also be telling me to push even harder. I’m not sure who was more motivated, my younger self or me today!
Q: Which is your biggest dream in life (personal and/or professional) that you want to accomplish? What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten that has encouraged you to pursue that dream?
A: I just want to keep doing what I’m doing and make each year better than the last. Personal growth is important to me as well and I’m always trying to be a better version of myself. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is to trust your gut, always follow your dreams and never stop believing in magic!
Q: I believe you are ascending in Australia’s entertainment industry, so what does 2022 and the future hold for you? What are you most excited about?
A: 2022 is going to be massive! I have a bunch of new projects coming out so you’ll never know where I might pop up! One project I’m particularly excited about is the release of my self-tan ‘Jade Kevin Foster x Naked Tan.’ This was my pandemic project where I really got to immerse myself in the development of a product and 2022 is when everyone gets to see it! Whilst I have promoted many products in the past, I’ve never developed my own on such a large scale. That process was fascinating and getting to add my vision into something tangible is so exciting! I can’t wait for everyone to try it! Get ready people, 2022 is going to be the best year yet!
