HOKA’s roots in trail running are a physical dialogue with terrain, elements, and movement. Born from Earth and Water.
In this second collaboration, _J.L-A.L_ revisits that origin story, connecting HOKA’s craftsmanship with the tactile world of ceramics. Both practices rely on touch, pressure, and intuition: one shaping vessels, the other motion.
This project explores that shared lineage: a study in terrain and tactility, in tools shaped by topography and tradition. Two new colour ways draw directly from natural material – clay, terracotta, stone, and mud – echoing the transformation of raw matter into purposeful form.
To mark the release, J.L-A.L has invited three artists to create bespoke ceramic works for an exhibition that extends this dialogue. Presented in tones of Volcanic Ash and Beluga, the sculptures evoke rock, water, and organic growth. Hybrid in form, they shift between geological and bodily references, pulsing with a fluid energy that reflects cycles, ruptures, and movement through space.
