Barcelona-based graphic designer and self-taught portrait photographer born in Lima, Peru Angel Ruiz @angelruiz_studio presents this fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Danny Nerslow @danny_nerslow represented by BENTŌ @bentomodels.
As the model Danny is not new to modeling, the idea was to explore different moods, from casual/effortless to playful-sexy and lastly something more dramatic/moody, a very intuitive process as the photographer mentions. “I knew I wanted to explore different lighting and the acting/styling was according to that,” he says. “Working with Danny was easy and fun. I did the styling and explained to him my idea and he was quick to catch the concept.”
The equipment used was a Canon 5dMark IV and two Canon lenses, 24-105mm and 70-200mm, and two Bowens strobes for lighting and for the last mood a blue colored gel. The shooting took place in BENTŌ´s office, a beautiful apartment in the middle of the Born district in Barcelona with really high ceilings.
“I wanted something pleasant and effortless. Wanted texture and movement. It’s organic, effortless, timeless, cinematic.”
The model wears pieces from Zara and his own clothes and was very professional and open. He had good energy and nice dance moves as the photographer states.
