Balenciaga has recently inaugurated its latest store, spanning over 5,800 square feet in Hamburg, Germany. The new store’s design is aligned with the brand’s ongoing “Raw Architecture” theme, which was also showcased in its Miami Design District location. This concept marks a shift in Balenciaga’s focus towards architecture and craftsmanship, redefining luxury retail and allowing the store to harmoniously coexist with its surroundings.

The two-story Hamburg store features unpolished concrete and metal surfaces, raw walls, strategically placed LED lighting, and metal staircases. The men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections are displayed without dedicated sections or seasonal setups, potentially signaling a move towards a more timeless approach.
Drawing inspiration from construction sites and outdoor metal structures, the store showcases an exposed ventilation system, weathered velvet curtains, and sleek aluminum tables on aged cement flooring. The industrial ambiance is balanced with digital screens, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and illuminated shelving, adding a touch of vibrancy to the space.
Enhancing the store’s design is a distinctive installation on the ground floor – the Balenciaga Bench by Tejo Remy for Droog Design. Using vintage and deadstock Balenciaga fabric, Remy’s creation serves as a functional seating area, reflecting the brand’s ongoing “Art in Stores” initiative.
