Arielle Fox and the stigma around ‘Onlyfans’

Arielle Fox is an English woman that started to have an account in ‘Onlyfans’ less than a month ago. This social media is mostly known for being a new porn site, but Arielle defends that ‘Onlyfans’ is a new way of personal expression and empowerment.

Arielle doesn’t post porn in her profile; she is a model and she usually posts some erotic pictures from photoshoots. Her routine starts answering to comments and posting some pictures in the afternoon about her day. She tries to keep contact with her followers and to have feedback.

Moreover, Arielle is an influencer marketing for an animal charity. That is why her daily life is about social media. She thinks that if you are going to create an account in ‘Onlyfans’ just for gaining quick cash, then don’t do it because everything you post “is on the internet forever and your pictures can be posted elsewhere”.  “You will also need a lot of time to dedicate weekly to this especially if you do not have a huge following elsewhere and even more”, that is what Arielle says about that social media and the time needed at the beginning.

I feel empowered and more confident about my body and more sexually confident as a result too

Arielle Fox thinks that there is a stigma around ‘Onlyfans’ that makes people believe that it is just another porn website. ‘Onlyfans’ as a social media makes her and others that have an account feel “empowered and more confident” about their bodies and sexuality.

Is ‘Onlyfans’ just a social media for porn?

I feel like OnlyFans has that stigma around it as being “just another porn website”. I was initially put off joining the platform for this exact reason, I am not against porn actors, quite the opposite, I admire what they do greatly but for me, this wasn’t a path I wanted to pursue.

In their marketing, they tend to focus heavily on using it as a “fan platform” where you can upload a multitude of content for your fans, for example, if you’re an artist, you could upload behind the scenes videos of your creation process or if you’re a PT you could use it for the delivery of classes.

There is obviously porn on the website and a lot of it too, but there also does seem to be a wide mix of SFW content on there too and soft-core tease profiles.

– When and how did you start working in ‘Onlyfans’?

So, I am a mega newbie! I signed up towards the end of April 2020, it took a few years of turning my nose up at offers to join before actually finally committing to giving it a try. I was spending my morning scrolling through YouTube, as you do, and I came across a video of a popular YouTuber talking about how she made a fortune from posting on OnlyFans in just one month without even posting nude content.

Money was never the draw for me, this is a platform that has always peaked my interest, my main reservations were that it had that “porn-site” stigma and for the career path I wanted to pursue, this wasn’t something I wanted to be linked. I have a large following on social media (mainly Instagram) which I have built from my modeling career, I have also shot a lot of NSFW images and videos that are completely unseen and I wanted somewhere that my fans could go to view this content so I finally gave in and created an account.

What kind of content do you usually post?

I post a wide range of content, I know I haven’t been on there long but I have a huge and I mean (massive) store of images and videos which have never been published anywhere, so I stagger these in-between brand new content too!

My content really varies, I post high-quality erotic images from photoshoots ranging from implied nudity to full-nude, as a fashion and art model, my highest level for shooting was “full-frontal nudity” as I had joined the industry when there was all that hype about “fashion nude”. I have always been slim but pretty curvy, (large bum and boobs haha), so I have done a lot of glamour work too and even shot for Penthouse so I am no stranger to cheeky, sexy pictures!

I also shoot photosets, these are always brand new! I shoot these from home using my studio lights. These sets are usually pretty saucy as self-taken images are always seen to be sexier. The theme of these sets really varies from classic lingerie tease sets to cheeky cosplay, tease videos, yoga, and my feet! People love my feet, I never understand this as I hate feet but if it makes people happy then I am cool with that, we each have our thing…

I am a gamer and a complete nerd so shooting “gamer girl” and cosplay sets are my favourite! I also take on content requests from my fans too.

How is your daily routine in ‘Onlyfans’?

I may be a newb but I love a good plan, I have planned my days to make sure I get me time and dedicate time to create content, post content, and engage with my audience on there. So a typical day starts with me getting up early, grabbing a coffee and sifting through my DMs on OnlyFans, I reply to absolutely everyone and I reply to all comments too! I will then tease a set that’s coming later and crack on with my day. Lunchtime, I head back in again, I usually put a set live around this time as it’s a good time, worldwide, when most people are awake. This set is usually prescheduled so it takes less pressure off my day! I will then promote and tease my new set on Instagram and Twitter to encourage new sign-ups and of course, as with my morning session, I reply to all comments and messages.

I then sporadically login through the afternoon to chat with my fans and sometimes I will also post some selfies throughout my day too! I batch create and pre-schedule all my week-ahead content over the weekend to take the pressure off my day and leave me with more time for chatting too but occasionally, if I have a fun idea, I will shoot some stuff during my lunch break!

Apart from it, do you have another work or source of income?

I do! I love to keep busy and for my “real world” job, I work in social media and influencer marketing for an animal charity! I also do my own influencer marketing (me as the influencer) on my Instagram too so super busy all the time.

Is it a stressful job?

Not so far, I am really enjoying it and it makes me feel sexy and empowered! I like that I have complete and utter control over what I post, when I post and see it as a great platform for developing my body-confidence further.

I know for a fact that this isn’t the same for a lot of other girls that do it, we are all different after all and a lot of my girlfriends have quit the platform as they have found it too stressful to maintain and grow and sadly a lot of the girls have also received some pretty awful messages and aggressive level pushers have target them too! I can’t say that this won’t happen to me but I have a lot of experience with all of this from my modeling career too so my skin is pretty tough to it all.

“I really enjoy OnlyFans and how it makes me feel, if it becomes stressful then I would likely walk away from it all”

At present, there is much social debate about ‘Onlyfans’, some people think that it is a new way of commercializing the body and others think that it is a way of personal expression and gaining money. What do you think about it?

For me, I see it as a way of personal expression! Everyone will have different reasons for joining, some sole for money (which I would never recommend) you should enjoy what you do and some for some fun with an added side income.

For me, as I have stated earlier, I love the way it makes me feel, it’s an extra way of making extra cash which I can use to pay off my car, phone, and dream holidays, who doesn’t want those things? I feel empowered and more confident about my body and more sexually confident as a result too.

I feel like there is way too much stigma and taboo around the sex industry and sex as a whole, we all do it, even the cute old couple down the road! It’s time to be more open about sex, porn, and nudity, it’s not dirty, it’s human and the more we talk about it the more we will feel sexually confident.

– Would you recommend working in that social media? Why?

I would say the same about this as I did when I gave out advice for new models, don’t do it if you are just in it for some quick cash! Even if you post once and change your mind, that post is on the internet forever and your pictures can be posted elsewhere, please research the hell out of it first.

You will also need a lot of time to dedicate weekly to this especially if you do not have a huge following elsewhere and even more so if you don’t already have a stockpile of images.

If you have decided that this is what you want to do, before you post anything, please make sure that you have disabled location services on your camera, both phone and professional cameras! People can use this data to work out where you are and there are some scary people out there. Also, make sure you use a stage name, these are super fun and will help you protect your identity, you do have to be prepared that people will probably find out who you are but make sure you lock your personal social channels down to private so you are safe.

“But, if you are happy with all of the above and are raring to go, I think you will love it! It’s challenging, fun, and exciting!”

What do your social circle think about your work in ‘Onlyfans’?

Not everyone knows but, most of my friends, family, and people around me have already seen me in the buff! They are no stranger to the kind of content I have created in the past with my modeling, I have always been fully open about everything I do, I will never be ashamed of being me if you don’t like it then bye. I have also told my boss about this and she is fully supportive, she’s amazing!

Many porno actors are saying that ‘Onlyfans’ is damaging the traditional porn industry, what is your opinion about that?

I can’t really say much on this as I don’t actually shoot porn (more glamour) but I could see how it can impact the porn industry. Anyone can join of any standard and it lowers to bar for pricing too, some top porn stars are charging the highest-rate for subscriptions and some are charging the lowest which always causes tension and complications.

This was the same when all those modeling websites popped up where anyone and their Nanna could become a model, Instagram girls too, without any experience and they would charge super-low rates. This really got people’s backs up but I personally feel like as long as you have something unique to offer and you work hard on quality content and building your social media channels then you will succeed online.

The internet as a whole is changing the world rapidly, we need to try and move and develop our skills as it the internet evolves, if we do this we should excel in everything.
