Chloé Spring Summer 2027: why we think it is still Fashion’s Ultimate Bohemian Dream

Spring/Summer 2027 is another chapter in what has become fashion’s most convincing bohemian dream — Chemena Kamali turns the Maison’s codes into a more grown-up vision of the Chloé woman, where romance, lingerie, tailoring and unexpected practicality coexist

For Chloe Spring Summer 2027, the designer once again enters the romantic universe that has made her tenure at the house so instantly recognizable. Broderie anglaise, lace, lingerie, generous sleeves, ruffles and free-moving dresses are all here. Yet calling it another exercise in bohemian nostalgia would miss the point. Kamali’s Chloé woman is evolving. The dream remains, but this time it has more weight, more structure and, perhaps most importantly, more reality.

Kamali described the collection through the idea of her own “obsessions” — the elements she loves and instinctively returns to, archetypes of what she incorporated in her designs. She first worked at the house during Phoebe Philo’s era, later returned under Clare Waight Keller and, before taking the top job at Chloé in 2023, spent several years as Women’s Ready-to-Wear Design Director at Saint Laurent under Anthony Vaccarello.

What are those Chloe obsessions then?

White broderie anglaise dresses feel almost archetypically Chloé: romantic, sensual without appearing calculated, and decorative without becoming precious. Lace and lingerie elements expose the body, but rarely in an aggressively sexual way. Instead, there is the effortless sensuality that has always belonged to the Chloé vocabulary — the feeling that clothes move around the woman rather than force her into a predetermined silhouette.

Against all that lightness, Kamali introduces fisherman coats, oversized outerwear, wide-brimmed hats and stronger volumes. Bright rainwear interrupts the cream, white and black romanticism of the dresses. It is an unexpected counterpoint, but also one of the collection’s smartest ideas. What happens to the Chloé girl when the fantasy meets an ordinary rainy day?She wear her coat!

The contrast gives the collection a new maturity. Some observers have interpreted Chloe Spring Summer 2027 as a more softer Chloé — less instinctive and less dreamlike than previous seasons. But perhaps the opposite is true. The dream has not disappeared; it has simply acquired a wardrobe.

This is increasingly where Kamali excels. Bohemian style at Chloe Spring Summer 2027 is not treated as a trend or reduced to the usual visual shortcuts of the 1970s. It becomes a way of dressing: romantic dresses mixed with outerwear, lingerie worn beyond the bedroom, tailoring softened around the body, and precious pieces styled with an almost accidental ease.

Even tailoring enters this world without disrupting it. Kamali revisits Noël, a Chloé tuxedo originally created in 1972, reinforcing an idea that has always been important to the house: femininity here has never required fragility.

The accessories continue the story. Platforms ground the lightness of the dresses, while bags and jewellery have the collected, almost talismanic quality that suits Kamali’s universe. There are references to different eras of Chloé rather than a single archival moment — part of a broader approach in which the past is treated as emotional material rather than something to reproduce literally. Earlier this year, Kamali described her process as using “fractions of the past” and constantly editing them into something new.

Fashion is currently overloaded with reinvention. Creative directors arrive, archives are reopened, codes are dismantled and reconstructed, and every season seems to demand another dramatic declaration of a “new era.” Kamali has taken almost the opposite route. Her Chloé has become convincing because she has never appeared embarrassed by what the house already has built.

Chloe Spring Summer 2027 feels like coming home to the most enduring image we have of the Maison: boho-chic, with the face of Sienna Miller in mind, dreamy and romantic, never nostalgic. Rather than fighting those ideas in search of novelty, she has gradually expanded them. And in an industry that spent years moving towards controlled minimalism and anonymous luxury, there is something almost rebellious about clothes that openly want to be beautiful.

It also explains why Chloé has once again become such a recognizable presence beyond the runway. Kamali’s arrival helped place wedges, flowing dresses, hobo shapes and a new interpretation of boho back into the fashion conversation. Chloe Spring Summer 2027 does not need to manufacture another aesthetic revolution. It shows what happens after the comeback — when an idea has to become a lasting wardrobe rather than a one-season trend.
