Diane von Furstenberg returns to New York Fashion Week after a nine-year absence, opening a new chapter in the brand’s history. The Spring/Summer 2027 collection marks the creative directorial debut of Russian-born designer Henry Zankov, who is already deeply familiar with the DVF universe, having worked for the fashion house from 2014 to 2018, a period that marked some of his earliest steps in the fashion industry.
Naturally, Diane von Furstenberg herself was seated in the front row to witness the debut. At the end of the show, the founder embraced Zankov, a symbolic gesture that seemed to mark the passing of the torch between the house’s legacy and its new creative direction.

At the heart of the SS27 collection is, of course, the unmistakable wrap dress, created by Diane von Furstenberg in 1974 and over the years transformed into a symbol of female independence, practicality, and freedom, designed for dynamic, working women.
The collection is defined above all by a bold and vibrant use of color. Shades of blue, orange, pink, and green come together through geometric constructions and color blocking. Silhouettes are sometimes divided into rectangular fields of color, while in other looks, chromatic contrasts are concentrated on details such as sleeves and collars. Alongside solid-colored pieces, animal prints, patchwork motifs, and artistic, surrealist-inspired designs introduce a bolder and more playful dimension.
Henry Zankov’s debut thus signals a new phase for Diane von Furstenberg. The brand’s visual language is renewed to speak to the contemporary woman, while preserving the sense of ease, freedom, and rebellious spirit that has defined its identity for more than fifty years.
