Acclaimed 94-year-old artist Yayoi Kusama has made a grand return to the New York art scene this month, showcasing a collection of new works at the esteemed David Zwirner Gallery. This exhibition marks the artist’s largest solo show to date and signifies the second collaboration between Kusama and Zwirner, a decade after their initial joint effort.
Titled “I Spend Every Day Embracing Flowers,” the exhibition displays an extensive array of Kusama’s artistic mastery, including paintings, installations, sculptures, and more. Among these works is the crowd-favorite “Infinity Mirror Room,” as well as both old and new creations themed around pumpkins and flowers. A majority of the 35 paintings are from Kusama’s latest series, “Every Day I Pray For Love.” The vibrant colors and intricate patterns characteristic of her pieces not only reflect Kusama’s creative style but also narrate various emotions and stories to the viewer.
