YAT, a Nashville-based technology startup, believes that emojis could become a username. And how?
While not all Yats are tokenized, they function as a sort of cross between a non-fungible token (NTF) and a domain address.
Browsers like OPERA, allow you to use emojis to access URLs, try ours in your browser.
“Yat allows you to use emojis as your username and universal identity on the Internet.”
Emojis, colorful icons that are used in digital media to express an idea, feeling or emotion are increasingly used today on the internet.
Celebrities like Paris Hilton and rappers G-Eazy and Lil Wayne have their YAT, and now we have our own YAT too!
“Imagine being known as a fire snake or crown of robot ghosts instead of coffeequeen98 or firstname.lastname@example.org. By owning a Yat, let’s say an ocean-trident-palmer, it is yours forever. You are the only one on earth who owns these emojis.”
What is a YAT?
It’s a set of three to five emojis that can represent the username, website URL, or payment address for digital wallets.
The most expensive Yat was a solo gold key YAT, sold for US$425,000 at the Yat Destiny auction in mid-2021.
