In the editorial SKIP THE DRESSCODE, photographer Luca masterfully explores the tension between space and style, crafting a narrative that challenges societal norms. Through a series of carefully composed images, he captures the discomfort of stepping into a space where etiquette is ignored, using dark, cool lighting and flash to heighten the sense of disarray. The juxtaposition of playful, childlike styling against formal, abandoned settings creates a striking visual rupture, evoking both discomfort and freedom.

Luca’s choice of a Canon 5D Mark II with a 50mm lens allowed him to adapt to the dark, industrial location, emphasizing the raw, documentary-style aesthetic. The worn, lifeless environment amplified the theme of disconnection, while the model’s natural, awkward poses added warmth and humanity.

In post-production, Luca kept edits minimal, focusing on color grading and adjusting curves to balance the cold tones from the strobes with the warm, nostalgic feel he envisioned. The collaboration with his team was crucial, with styling, makeup, and hair all working harmoniously to achieve a fresh, spontaneous look.

This editorial celebrates imperfection and rebellion, capturing the beauty of breaking the rules and finding freedom in the unexpected.
