SHOOP unveiled its Fall/Winter 21 collection at Rakuten Fashion Week. The Tokyo/Madrid-based brand gave us a sneak peek of its FW collection through a campaign film presented at London Fashion Week last February. Now, designers Miriam Sanz (I.G. @mimishoop) and Yohei Oki (I.G. @yyioy) presented us the entire collection, where we can appreciate in greater detail a collection inspired by the concept of transformation, the process of renewal and adaptation.
The concept of transformation at its finest is shown in all the pieces. Transformation implies cycles of constant change to find balance, this is projected through the harmony between contemporary and classic elegance reflected in the diverse range of textiles and shapes of the pieces; from oversized coats, garments with animal print, through suits with details in their openings, to jackets and pants with technical fabrics giving an insect-like texture, a series of transformations that culminates in sophisticated elegance. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the collection are the denim garments, made in collaboration with Haruhito Jeans, a capsule that imagines how the garments would be beautifully deteriorated after 100 years with the “Boro” technique, imagining a future that has ended with large productions and consumption, in which the garments last longer in time. The handmade embroidered caps with hair were also a highlight of the collection, which were developed in collaboration with artists X-presion Creativos in a capsule collection that includes a series of handcrafted custom hair-embroidered caps.
Showcased through a digital runway, the brand worked with Bandiz Studio and Paty Abrahamsson. The brand through its digital presentation also gave a new meaning to the “cat-walk”, given that throughout the presentation the presence of a cat can be seen at times without a specific purpose in terms of the collection, yet it was quite adorable.
Reconstruct it to re-interpret through the continuous search for new concepts intertwined under the same identity by the world around us with music and culture as main guidelines, SHOOP combines the elegance of classic garments and small details in a sophisticated and sustainable way. As stated in some of the pieces, Shoop’s FW 21 collection is “the beginning of something beautiful”.
