On the New York runway, Sandy Liang SS27 embraced a whimsical contrast, where fairytale romance and practical sportswear merged freely through ruffled track pants, sheer layers, and unexpected gorp-fantasy accessories.

Sandy Liang unveiled her Spring/Summer 2027 collection in New York, bringing to the runway a fresh exploration of the relationship between fairytale whimsy and practical sportswear. Layering, sheer fabrics, playful silhouettes, and constructions that seemed to move with the wearer defined a collection where the charm stemmed less from traditional styling and more from the freedom with which athletic pieces rested against delicate elements, followed their movement, and occasionally subverted expectations with unexpected gorp fantasy accessories.

Compared to past seasons heavily skewed toward a total fairytale escape, this time the designer chose to firmly anchor the narrative in raw urban reality. The collection fuses childhood, dollhouse imagery, and essential everyday wardrobe staples with playful child-like touches and unprecedented contrasts, blending a sophisticated attitude with ironic functionality, as demonstrated by a classic metropolitan trench paired with a dreamlike lace skirt, or pink technical ski-style pants adorned with the Versailles script.

To complete the looks, intimate layering took center stage with soft satin bras and lace-trimmed undergarments boldly styled beneath low-waisted skirts or sharp tailored shorts, creating a striking contrast of textures and materials between the delicacy of the lightweight fabrics and the robust structure of utility wear. The entire romantic aesthetic was grounded by dreamy accessories, including delicate ribbon headbands, whimsical rabbit shoes, and minimalist strapped heels.

More than just a simple fashion show, Sandy Liang’s vision reaffirms that fashion can function as an emotional sanctuary, where functionality is not a limitation but rather the starting point for a carefree, fairytale narrative.
