Courtney Nathan Phillip @CourtneyNP, a young photographer who started his professional career at the age of sixteen and who has traveled the world and lived overseas photographing many models and a lot of young celebrities like Nick Jonas, Noah Centineo, Avan Jogia, and many more, presents this fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Rory Macleod @rorymacleodd represented by Betty Laine Management.
The main inspiration for this fashion editorial was the idea of a pop of color as well as the idea that putting on a suit doesn’t mean you have to put away the fun. “This was a first-time shoot for Rory with a stylist involved,” says the photographer. “I wanted to create a shoot that felt familiar to him so he could feel comfortable, so I came up with the idea of utilizing his dance background with a more formal styling. A lot of new models tend to not get much direction when shooting and because Rory and I had the common ground of a dance background, I ran with that. He was a little stiff at the start of the shoot but after a few laughs and a bit of time had passed, Rory was in full swing of the shoot.”
A Canon 5DSR with a 70-200mm lens was what the photographer used for this photoshoot, which took place in Cherry Bomb Studio in Holborn, London.
“When it comes to my color photographs, I really like to mix darkness with vibrant colors. Also growing up as a dancer, whenever I get a chance to photograph someone with a dance background, I like to experiment with movement in a casual manner.”
“Nothing is more revealing than movement.”Martha Graham
“I wanted to give a sense of soft movement but with conviction. Also showing a young and playful energy.” Those vibes are completely achieved, and as the model said, he felt “fierce, stylish, and swanky.” That’s amazing because it shows that he was feeling good, confident, and giving the best of himself.
