Having met the brand Nohant @official_nohant during Seoul Fashion Week 2022, we had the pleasure of asking them a couple of questions to know them better, what drives them to create comfortable and stylish unisex clothes. They say the brand “would continue to be a brand that both genders can feel comfortable with so everyone can enjoy and share the brand experience.”
Vanity Teen. If I am right, your brand was launched in 2012 and therefore you are celebrating your 10 years anniversary. What’s the story of your brand? What made you want to start this journey and how has it evolved throughout the years?
Nohant. It has been ten years since I started this journey of creating a brand whose designs I want to wear in my daily life easily and comfortably under the name of NOHANT. I am so thankful and proud that it has continued growing from a small online-based brand through great works of collaborations, presenting the collections in Seoul Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Week.
VT. Which would you say are your brand’s values? What inspires your designs?
N. Ever since I started the brand, I have always designed clothes imagining what my friends and I could wear with comfort, ease, and wit, and I think all of that becomes the value of NOHANT. So, all the inspiration comes from everything around me including my friends.
VT. Nohant is a unisex contemporary brand, so I would like to know, how do you create pieces that are practically genderless? How is that achieved? Could you tell us how is that creative process?
N. As a unisex contemporary brand, I try to create pieces with a satisfying silhouette and fit so both women and men can wear and use them with different stylings. Therefore, our patterns are designed based on the over-fit, and we show how women and men can make different styling even with the same item through our lookbook.
VT. What made you want to go in this direction of unisex fashion and how did you find your aesthetics?
N. These days, lifestyle has changed and become diverse, so what people need in style and fashion is also very different. NOHANT is for people who need clothes with ease, comfort but stylish.
VT. Lastly, how do you see the evolution of your brand, and which do you think are people’s approaches to unisex fashion? Do you think that attitude will change?
N. In my opinion, the era of forcing myself to fit in with uncomfortable things or accepting them is over. So in fashion, in particular, it became tedious to distinguish between genders in clothes. Therefore, NOHANT would continue to be a brand that both genders can feel comfortable with so everyone can enjoy and share the brand experience.
