Photographer Jacobus Snyman @_iamJacob presents this gorgeous fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Luke Anderson @luke.anderson2003 represented by Ice Models @icemodelscpt.
“I am drawn to imagery that makes me feel something,” says Jacobus Snyman. “I think the truth is recognizable and it creates a connection/conversation with the viewer.” The keywords for this shoot were color, energy, melancholy, and outsider, and the team really showcased all those words in these images.
“The story you see in the photos is your truth and I don’t want to limit that inspiration by imprinting mine.”
“After being stuck inside during multiple lockdowns in South Africa, being able to go outside and reconnect with nature brings a new lightness and energy. I wanted to represent this energy with the lighting and colors, but there is a distinct sense of post-pandemic melancholy still lingering in all of us.”
The equipment used for this shoot was Broncolor lights with UV filter for some of the shots, a Canon R5 with 24-70mm lens, and a 135mm lens, and it took place on a remote part of Llundudno beach in Cape Town South Africa at sunset.
“My hope is that my work inspires someone else to go out there and create too. The energy and creativity that this story encapsulates is a small glimpse into the kind of imagery I want to create.”
In the interest of sustainable fashion, this story is styled exclusively with pieces from past collections. A mix of South African and international brands, some decades old and some relatively recent, remixed with a contemporary mindset.
