Luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is gearing up to debut designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s inaugural Pre-Fall collection in a groundbreaking show in Seoul, South Korea. The highly anticipated event is scheduled for the end of April, taking place after sunset on the Jamsugyo Bridge, which overlooks the picturesque Hangang River.
This marks the first time the iconic double-decker bridge will serve as the backdrop for a high-profile fashion show. Louis Vuitton’s decision to unveil its latest collection in Seoul is part of a series of collaborations between luxury brands and the Korean government to promote the country’s cultural influence.
Newly-appointed Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccar praised Seoul as a “cultural hub that continues to draw global attention,” adding that the dynamic city shares Louis Vuitton’s passion for innovation and creativity.
In a groundbreaking partnership, critically acclaimed “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk will join forces with Ghesquière as the creative advisor for the show’s scenography. The collaboration embodies Louis Vuitton’s commitment to celebrating local culture and artistic excellence on a global stage.
French artist Philippe Parreno will also collaborate with Ghesquière for the upcoming show, which is part of a strategic partnership with Seoul Metropolitan City and the Korea Tourism Organization. Louis Vuitton has a longstanding relationship with South Korea, having opened its first boutique in Seoul’s Gangnam district in 1991 and later hosting the “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” exhibition in the city in 2017.
The show is expected to attract 1,600 guests, including 100 local fashion students. Mark your calendars for the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2023 show, set to take place on April 29th, after sunset on the Jamsugyo Bridge.
