Intended to represent that lost innocence in the woods through an idyllic scene of children playing in a field in the golden hour, Nano López has created this editorial inspired by some childhood memories as well as the moments of how sailors spent their free time in the ’50s. “When I was a kid, I liked to play hide and seek with the other kids in the pine forests. I wanted to conceptually portray these moments of my childhood – having fun like the good old times and running about with the feeling of fresh air across your cheeks,” he says.
“I wanted to recreate how the moments of how sailors spent their free time in the ’50s. At first, I was obsessed with keeping with the style, but then I let some spontaneity take the lead; we went from structure poses to ones that were completely free and relaxed.”
The photographer used a professional camera that was able to capture that certain skin glow and the facial expressions. The team also used a large rope for the nautical element. The shoot was taken in the Northern outskirts of Posadas, Argentina. It was an area surrounded by tall pines, close to the airport but in a completely natural setting. “We decided to do the shoot there because I felt that it triggered my fond memories, which is what we wanted to portray. I never gave it a second thought.”
