Photographer Samet Turkan @sametturkann presents Lobster, a fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Vlada Lachimova @vladalachimova represented by True Models Istanbul @truemodelsistanbul.
“I was depressed. I was thinking no one understood me and everyone around me was like a mannequin. Then I found this mannequin factory when I was scouting on that location. I talked with our Model Vlada, and we had similar feelings. My colleague Seray, head of bookings at True Models, told me a story about the Lobsters.”
“Lobsters break their shells when they grow, it’s like a depression. If you are depressed, you have to break your shell and make this shooting, put all your thoughts in it, and reflect your depression.”
“It felt so good to hear that at a time when I forgot that art is such a thing. I was feeling very good when I reflected all my emotions on this shooting when I got back home.”
For the shoot, the photographer used a Canon MarcII with a 24-70 mm lens and a reflector. It took place in a mannequin factory in Istanbul and all clothes were handmade on-site to further reflect the feelings they wanted to transmit.
