Little Black Dress by Chris Fucile

New York City-based fashion photographer that has an extensive work of published editorials through several fashion publications Chris Fucile @chrisfucilephotography presents this fashion editorial exclusively created for Vanity Teen online with the model Dax Reedy @____dax______, a promising new face at State Management @statemgmt. In addition to modeling, Dax is a fellow creative that assists on fashion productions as well as developing creative projects of their own with a collective of friends.

The editorial is inspired by the aesthetics of the ’90s and early 2000s especially from the point of view of iconic photographers like Steven Meisel, Peter Lindbergh, and Karl Lagerfeld. “We wanted to capture an androgynous aesthetic where the flow between masculine and feminine is fluid and seamless.”

“To achieve the intended result a few things had to come together. The biggest was talent. We needed a model that was able to encapsulate a playful yet seductive attitude and hold space in the masculine and feminine. Dax was perfect and nailed every aspect of it. The other thing to consider was fashion and styling. We didn’t want the conversation to be that “oh Dax is wearing a dress. We wanted the conversation to be, “look how great Dax looks in that dress,” says the photographer.

The stylist Steve Karas @lordwarg runs an archival vintage store House WNYC @houseWnyc, which takes pride in collecting and cataloging iconic pieces from luxury designer houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Commes Des Garçons, Vivienne Westwood, Dior, and many others. The makeup artist, Kye Quinlan @kyequinlan, is an incredibly talented creative with amazing technical skills and bold vision. Kye and Dax are close friends and often create beautiful projects together.

The photographer used his Nikon DSLR and a 35mm lens with a simple speed light. For the video, they used their phone flashlights. They shot this editorial in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.

The team wanted this story to feel sexy, subversive, dangerous, and playful, and they have totally achieved that! Steve provided the wardrobe from his archival designer shop House W.NYC with amazing pieces from brands such as Vivienne Westwood, Comme Des Garçons, Syro, Jean Paul Gaultier, Gucci, Vera Wang, and some of the stylist’s personal items. Dax felt bold and confident, sexy, powerful, and mischievous, which clearly shows in this gorgeous editorial.
