With The Code of Making 2.0, the Italian label turns its signature hybrid into a study in craft, technology and contemporary elegance.
The future of tailoring might be knitted. Lardini has been exploring that territory since 2013, when its Knitted Jacket first brought the structure of a tailored blazer into conversation with the softness of knitwear. Now, the Italian house returns to the piece with The Code of Making 2.0, a new chapter in its ongoing investigation into the art of making.
Founded in 1978 in Filottrano, in Italy’s Marche region, Lardini has built its identity around a distinctly Italian approach to menswear: sartorial precision without unnecessary formality, tradition with an instinct for reinvention. The Knitted Jacket distils that philosophy into a single garment. Its familiar architecture – classic lapels, a two-button closure, patch pockets and double vents – meets the flexibility of a knitted construction, dissolving the boundary between tailoring and comfort.
The new film takes the viewer inside the process, tracing the journey from yarn selection to individually knitted panels and final assembly. Its protagonist is an ivory version in extra-fine merino wool, featuring an openwork structure that amplifies its lightness. Every stage reveals a balance between artisanal knowledge and technological research, with innovation serving the craft rather than overshadowing it.

In an industry increasingly concerned with the image of luxury, Lardini shifts the focus back to its construction. The Code of Making treats manufacturing not as backstage material, but as part of the creative language itself. The result is a compelling proposition for contemporary menswear: less about rigid dress codes, more about intelligent construction and the freedom to move.
The ivory Knitted Jacket featured in the film will be available exclusively at lardini.com and the brand’s Milan flagship store. From Filottrano to the world, Lardini’s idea of heritage remains anything but static: a living system, continually reworked for what comes next.
