Rekindling the Spirit of 90’s Skateboarding
KENZO has recently launched the KENZO-DOME, the maiden sneaker series by Art Director Nigo. Paying homage to the minimalist Cupsole sneaker, the KENZO-DOME draws its inspiration from the thriving skateboarding culture of the mid-1990s.
A Tribute to Le DOME
The KENZO-DOME series takes its name from Le DOME, the internationally acclaimed skatepark nestled within the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, a landmark in the Parisian skateboarding scene. Notably, the series’ compelling ad campaign was also shot at this iconic location, lensed by the renowned photographer Frank Lebon.
Aesthetic Functionality Meets Vintage Design
The KENZO-DOME’s flat outsole and chunky tongue design are a nod to the aesthetic sensibility of ’90s sports shoes. The sneakers come in a classic suede and pebbled leather variants, offering a balance of durability and flexibility. The rubber “KENZO Paris” logo graces the napa leather tongue and the sneaker’s heel, while the “KENZO” logo is embossed on the side of the sole, lending the skater an enhanced sense of balance.

The collection is unisex and available in classic and seasonal colors: a beige and pink suede upper with a brown rubber sole; a black suede upper with a black rubber sole and brown rubber sides; white grained leather with a white sole.
Excitingly, it’s reported that the second installment of the first sneaker series designed by Art Director Nigo will also drop this season. Sneakerheads and fashion enthusiasts alike should keep their eyes peeled for the continued evolution of this exciting new line.
