Hedi Slimane is a French photographer and fashion designer that was announced as the creative, artistic and image director for the fashion Brand CELINE (previously known as Céline) on January 21st, 2018.

This fragrance collection will mark his debut for perfumes since he was announced as creative director for the brand over a year and a half ago. This collection will consist of 11 fragrances of which 9 will launch this October, with the remaining 2 expecting to arrive some time in 2020 and will be named “Haute Parfumerie”. All 11 fragrances will be unisex, with 8 scents intended for daytime and 3 for the evening and night, this is meant for having no distinction between traditional men and female tendencies.

This fall’s scents are named: Parade, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Dans Paris, Cologne Française, La Peau Nue, Eau de Californie, for the “day” fragrances, and Reptile, Black Tie,and Night Clubbing, for the “evening” fragrances. The upcoming ones for next year are the two “day” scents left named: Rimbaud, and Bois Dorman.


Slimane was inspired for this collection by the ’60s and 70s French perfumery and night-life mixed with natural scents found in the cities like Paris, featuring notes such as rose, iris, chypre, and tree moss.

The glass of the vessels combines traditional French glassmaking with Slimane’s modern style, resulting into a sleek rectangular copper-colored bottle inspired by the minimalism of the 17th century and the stylishness of the Art Deco visuals with a thick, polished black cap with CELINE’s logo on top.

The boxing also pays homage to the brand itself with a design inspired by the wooden panels of the atelier found at the Hôtel Colbert de Torcy in Paris.

Along with the launching this October, Slimane will open a CELINE boutique in Paris, located at 390 Rue Saint-Honoré, to commemorate both CELINE and Slimane’s return to the art of scents.
