In a remarkable tribute to the iconic Hubert de Givenchy, the Givenchy Studio has unveiled a new collection that embodies the quintessence of a gentleman’s character: character, gallantry, grace, instinct, and individuality. Presented in the historic 3, Avenue George V salons, the collection masterfully juxtaposes the founder’s public and private fashion sensibilities, blending formal elegance with casual boldness.
This latest line reimagines the timeless components of Hubert de Givenchy’s own wardrobe, tailoring them to fit the contemporary man. The transformation of the simple white blouse, a staple in Givenchy’s studio attire, into a versatile, stylish workwear item exemplifies this approach. Suits and coats, originally crafted in the haute couture ateliers, now feature distinctive armholes below the sleeves, paying homage to Givenchy’s penchant for capes. Dominated by rich sapphire shades, the collection subtly nods to the founder’s preference for this color, diverging from traditional black.
The design team has also experimented with varying proportions and textures within the collection, fostering a dynamic and multifaceted aesthetic. Sharp, sleek tailoring reminiscent of Parisian playboys is offset by oversized trousers and bold outerwear, drawing inspiration from punk and glam cultures. The fusion of masculine and feminine elements, a hallmark of Givenchy’s style, emerges in the combination of luxurious chandelier motifs from the archives with casual teddy coats and chenille fabrics. A nod to military influences is apparent in the construction of flight and jump jackets, crafted from a mix of wool, leather, and ponyskin.
