The story of Resolute RGL sneakers explores culture, identity, and cultural resistance through the lens of Palestinian women. They tell their stories of ethnic cleansing but also their dreams and success, using thread and needles.
It’s a project co-created by Basel Adraa (Oscar-nominated for Best Documentary Feature for No Other Land), his mother Kifah Adraa, founder of the Tatreez cooperative of women embroiderers, and Joseph Levin, his Jewish-Israeli anti-war activist friend.
Some of the topics to highlight:
- Khifa Adraa’s dream to build a school since the 90’s, then the tatreez cooperative under the permanent destruction of the occupation. And she made it !
- Women tell their stories of forced exile using thread and needles
- The tatreez, a symbol of beauty and resistance from the intifada when the Palestinian flag was banned, until nowadays.
- The war strategies they are forced to apply daily to preserve their skills and lives
- Embroidering and gathering to tell stories from mother to daughter
- What we learn from Palestinian women can inspire regenerative socioeconomic models and a regenerative culture.
Palestine actually shows us the true colors of the world and offers us a way to keep our sanity and our humanity alive. We owe them a lot; the least we can do is give them a voice and keep spreading it.
