Chanel A/W 2020-21 haute couture collection

Virginie Viard, Chanel’s artistic director has designed this amazing haute couture collection inspired by “a punk princess coming out of ‘Le Palace’ at dawn” as Viard claimed, as well as Karl Lagerfeld’s previous designs for the French brand and his eccentric and avant-garde acquaintances.

“With a taffeta dress, big hair, feathers and lots of jewelry. This collection is more inspired by Karl Lagerfeld than Gabrielle Chanel. Karl would go to ‘Le Palace’, he would accompany these very sophisticated and very dressed up women, who were very eccentric too.”

Virginie Viard

This collection is anything but simple, using what the brand has called “ultra rock romanticism” that can be seen in dresses with extravagant silhouettes, cinched waists, dark tones combined with shimmering metallics alongside with jewels from the Chanel high jewelry collections to complete the design.

“For me, Haute Couture is romantic by its very essence. There is so much love in each one of these silhouettes.”
