Outdoor gear has officially outgrown the trail. With the Kuna Trail, ROA sharpens the conversation around technical footwear, bringing together alpine functionality, experimental design and the kind of understated attitude that resonates far beyond the mountains.
Founded in Italy in 2015 through a meeting of Slam Jam’s creative vision and footwear designer Maurizio Quaglia, ROA built its identity on the tension between performance and aesthetics. Its rise alongside the gorpcore movement helped position technical footwear as a fashion statement in its own right, while collaborations and a growing apparel offering expanded the brand’s cultural reach.

The Kuna Trail takes that DNA into a lighter, more agile territory. Engineered for mixed terrain, it combines a breathable jacquard upper developed with Texon, a responsive EVA midsole and a Vibram outsole integrating Traction Lug and XS Trek Evo technologies. Its 4.5 mm lugs are designed for grip across wet and uneven surfaces, while reinforced high-wear areas, a protective rubber toe cap and a gaiter-compatible heel keep the construction firmly grounded in function.
The interesting part is what this functionality represents. As outdoor-inspired footwear moves from niche subculture into the wider fashion landscape, technical credibility has become just as important as visual identity. ROA understands that the appeal lies in the balance: a shoe engineered for movement, defined by a design language that feels equally at home on the trail and in the city.
The Kuna Trail is less about dressing for an imagined adventure than embracing versatility as a daily uniform. Performance remains the foundation; attitude does the rest.
