In Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, Stella McCartney transforms the horse from a timeless luxury motif into a powerful symbol of humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

For the Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, Stella McCartney celebrates the Year of the Horse, transforming it into a symbol of the profound bond between humanity and the natural world. According to the Chinese lunisolar calendar, each year is associated with an animal; the Horse is the seventh sign of the Chinese zodiac and traditionally represents freedom, strength, determination, elegance, and a spirit of exploration.
For centuries, horses accompanied humankind, enabling people to travel, explore the world, and redefine the boundaries of what was possible. Yet modern life has gradually weakened this relationship. Through the Healing Power of Horses project, the fashion house encourages us to rediscover this connection through the values of presence, trust, and mutual understanding.
This vision is deeply rooted in Stella McCartney’s personal story. Raised on her family’s farm alongside Appaloosa horses, renowned for their distinctive spotted coats, she developed a lifelong appreciation for these animals that has shaped a creative philosophy founded on respect for both animals and nature.

The collection therefore becomes the starting point for a broader reflection: rebuilding an authentic relationship with the natural world and the species that inhabit it, while highlighting individuals, communities, and organizations that work every day to preserve this connection.
Among these is Ebony Horse Club, Brixton’s only community riding center, which provides free equestrian programs for children and teenagers from low-income families, making the experience of connecting with horses accessible to all.
Alongside this initiative is Operation Centaur, located in Richmond Park, an organization that supports people of all ages who are experiencing mental-health challenges through equine-assisted sessions with qualified therapists. It demonstrates how relationships with horses can become a powerful source of emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
Stella McCartney’s commitment extends far beyond storytelling. A longstanding pioneer of cruelty-free fashion and environmentally conscious design, the house turns its values into tangible action by partnering with Operation Centaur to establish the Healing Power of Horses Fund. From 17 July to 15 August 2026, 10% of the net sales from a selected range of products will be donated to help individuals who would otherwise be unable to access equine-assisted therapy, removing financial barriers to care.

The maison reinterprets the symbolism of the horse within the landscape of contemporary luxury. Traditionally associated with equestrian culture, aristocracy, and status, the horse has long been adopted by numerous fashion houses as an emblem of elegance, prestige, and heritage. In this collection, however, its meaning is fundamentally redefined. Rather than symbolizing ownership or privilege, the horse becomes an emblem of a relationship built on respect, empathy, and coexistence between humans and nature.
The horse therefore embodies a new vision of luxury, one in which value lies not in displays of exclusivity, but in the ability to promote an ethical and responsible relationship with the natural world. Through this narrative, Stella McCartney reminds us that humanity is not separate from nature but an integral part of it. Only by restoring an authentic connection with the natural world can we begin to imagine a future in which caring for the planet also means nurturing the relationships that sustain it.
