For its 30th anniversary, Under Armour is looking both backward and forward. The brand’s latest collaboration with Marine Serre revisits the foundations of athletic performance while proposing something more ambitious: a new visual language where sport, fashion, and the body move as one.
Launching on June 5, the debut Marine Serre x Under Armour capsule draws from the American sportswear giant’s early-2000s archive, reinterpreting icons such as HeatGear® and the cult Proto Speed sneaker through Serre’s distinctive lens. The result is not a nostalgic exercise, but a study of movement itself — stripped back, refined, and charged with intention.
At the center of the collection sits the baselayer, a garment deeply embedded in both brands’ histories. For Under Armour, it is the innovation that transformed performance apparel. For Marine Serre, it echoes her signature Second Skin, the body-hugging silhouette that has become synonymous with her house. Here, the baselayer evolves beyond utility, becoming a symbol of discipline, memory, and physical expression.
Serre’s own background as a former competitive tennis player informs the project throughout. Her approach treats performance not as a category but as a design principle, bringing the precision of sport into dialogue with the codes of contemporary luxury. Black-and-white silhouettes cut with sharp clarity are engineered in HeatGear® fabric, while a bespoke graphic fuses Serre’s iconic Moon motif with Under Armour’s heartbeat emblem, creating a new symbol born from two distinct identities.
The footwear offering carries the same spirit. The Proto Speed II returns for the first time since the late 2000s, preserving its sculptural silhouette while introducing contemporary detailing and collaborative branding. It feels less like a retro reissue and more like an archive rediscovered at exactly the right moment.
