At MM6 Maison Margiela, the future is neither a prophecy nor a product—it is a garment, constructed and deconstructed in equal measure. For Autumn/Winter 2025, the house
orchestrates an interplay of force and restraint, where volume becomes defiance and reduction a whispered rebellion. A trench coat, a column dress, a tailored suit—each a vestige of sartorial memory—is stretched, cinched, and suspended in time. Padded panels expand silhouettes into sharp monoliths; fabric, violently gathered, forms exposed seams that read like scars. Here, tension is the blueprint, and elegance emerges in the push and pull.
Yet beneath the tailoring lies an era untouched by digital liquidity. This is pre-neotechnological – a world where time is measured in the drape of wool rather than the velocity of data. The palette —rich umber, spectral grey, pitch black—grounds the collection in a reality both familiar and unplaceable, punctuated by errant flashes of red and turquoise, as if the present is glitching.
Wool serves as silent narrator—knitted, structured, omnipresent—binding past to now.
The reimagined varsity jacket and two-panel trousers in camel (a shade of pure Marlboro nostalgia) form a uniform of future sobriety, resisting excess while redefining form.
Accessories are imbued with quiet surrealism.
Timepieces stripped of their faces-wristwatches reduced to mere bracelets—suggest an abstracted temporality. Leather gloves, impossibly long and developed with Agnelle, melt over the arms like liquid armor, an exquisite contradiction of intimacy and detachment. Paired with sculptural visor-like glasses from MM6’s collaboration with
Gentle Monster, these cybernetic frames augment classic silhouettes with an architectural severity, their cable temple designs woven into the space itself, reinforcing a sense of spatial unity. More than eyewear, they propose a new mode of perception—part cinematic interface, part synthetic clairvoyance.
The MM6 woman is never simply dressed; she is calibrated. In a state of omnipresent readiness—watching White Lotus, tracking her Uber, gliding through the city with an elegance that is both untouchable and entirely her own.
This season, MM6 does not propose nostalgia, nor does it surrender to futurism. Instead, it
constructs a wardrobe for those who stand at the threshold of both—women who do not chase time but inhabit it.
